PSPgo console to launch 1st October

Sony's new PSPgo handheld is due for release in the UK on 1st October 2009. Here's a quick rundown of all the improvements over the original PSP:
  • Most notable is the slide-out control panel (similar to many mobile phone keypads) which offers a superior ergonomic design that leads to a more comfortable playing experience.
  • No UMD slot - games are digitally distributed and downloaded via a Wi-Fi connection to the 16GB of internal memory (this can be expanded with a Memory Stick Micro).
  • Ability to transfer music, movies and TV programmes downloaded on your PS3 to the new PSPgo.
  • Around 50% Smaller and 40% lighter than the original PSP.
  • Built-in Skype application that uses the Bluetooth/Wi-Fi capabilities to allow users to make phonecalls (could this compete with the iPhone?)

And with the new Gran Turismo game launching at the same time, this could lead to a reinvigoration of the PSP platform. Preorder the PSPgo at Amazon.co.uk now.

3D Games Coming to PS3?

Sony have recently announced that they hope to make 3D televisions (that's the kind you need glasses for, as with certain recent films at the cinema) available by the end of 2010.

As you would expect, this naturally leads to the possibility of 3D Blueray movies and 3D PS3 games. Although Sony is yet to confirm details of any specific releases, it seems more than likely that this is set to be the next big thing for the PS3.
